Two Million Minutes
Savage Foundation Debut In Richmond
Richmond-based Foundation partners with
"Ed in '08" to bring ground-breaking movie to Virginia
5/21/08; Richmond, VA - "Two Million Minutes", a movie comparing senior honor students in China, India, and the U.S. made its Virginia debut last night in Richmond's historic Byrd Theatre. Students, teachers, parents, and elected officials all attended the movie, which derives its name from the estimated time a student spends going through four years of high school.

The showing of the movie was also the inaugural event for The Savage Foundation, a non-profit organization located in Richmond, Virginia. The Savage Foundation helps top students from lower and middle-income families remove the financial barriers that may prevent them from achieving greater success. "We are thrilled with the turnout and I hope it leads to increased dialogue and ideas that will help our students become more competitive with their counterparts in foreign countries," said Rich Savage, the foundation's executive director.

The Savage Foundation teamed up with Ed in '08, a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for education reform at the national level, to bring the movie to Richmond. Ed in '08's national executive director, Marc Lampkin, attended the showing. "We applaud Ed in '08's efforts and I am looking forward to making things happen at the local level," said Savage. " It is encouraging to see how many people took time out of their evening to attend.
It was a great first event and we are looking to doing more to raise awareness in the future."
