The Savage Foundation affords area students unique opportunity.

On Saturday November 8th 2008, The Savage Foundation provided an opportunity for transportation to the annual Fall Fling Student Day at the University of Virginia free of charge to 15 Richmond area students as well as several parents.

The Fall Fling gives academically qualified African-American students a chance to visit the University and learn about what it has to offer, how it can assist students in gaining admission, and if need be, qualify for financial aid. “Often, students cannot get transportation to events such as these and we sought to remove that barrier. I believe an academically gifted student should not be prevented from achieving their dreams merely because they couldn’t get a ride,” said Rich Savage, Executive Director of the Savage Foundation.

"Fall Fling was a wonderful success! With more than 500 people in attendance, high school students from all over the US had the opportunity to learn all about the University of Virginia and what it has to offer as an institution of higher learning. We would like to thank The Savage Foundation for helping students from Richmond experience the day. We look forward to working with them in the future so more students can experience the cultural diversity UVA has to offer." - Valerie Gregory, University of Virginia
